Ripple has made waves in the crypto community by transferring 200 million XRP worth $109.4 million to an anonymous wallet. This large transaction, detected by Whale Alert, comes at a time when the number of unique XRP wallets is on the rise. Alongside this major transfer, other large XRP transactions and the increase in active wallet numbers highlight the continued activity of XRP in the market.
Massive XRP Transfer Sparks Speculation
Popular blockchain tracker Whale Alert revealed that Ripple transferred 200 million XRP, valued at $109.4 million, to an anonymous wallet just 12 hours ago. This transaction has ignited discussions within the XRP community, with some jokingly suggesting that Ripple might be preparing to pay a fine to the SEC. However, many believe this is a positive move for both Ripple and XRP.
According to XRP explorer Bithomp, the anonymous wallet in question is linked to Ripple, leading to speculation that this transaction could involve a significant financial institution or a Ripple customer, as Ripple either transferred or held a large amount of XRP.
Other Major XRP Transactions
In addition to Ripple’s big move, Whale Alert recently detected two other large XRP transfers. These withdrawals were made from South Korea-based Upbit and Dubai-based Bybit exchanges, involving 20 million and 52 million XRP, valued at $11.09 million and $28.67 million, respectively.
On-chain data provider Santiment also reported that the number of active wallets on the XRP Ledger has reached a three-month high. According to the latest data, 35,799 unique wallets have made at least one transaction in the past three months. Furthermore, 3,858 new wallets were created in just one day, marking the highest figure seen in over seven months.
XRP Price Reaction
Despite these significant movements, the price of XRP has declined by 3%, falling from $0.55864 to $0.54253. However, prior to this drop, the altcoin had surged by 3.64% within 24 hours.
